FEMA's Mike Brown capitalizes as the disaster king of disasters It takes one to know one? Michael Brown lost his job as head of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency over FEMA's slow response to Hurricane Katrina. Now, he is starting a disaster preparedness consulting firm to help others avoid a similar fate. "I think people are curious," Brown said in media reports. " 'My gosh, what was it like? The media just really beat you up. You made mistakes. I don't want to be in that situation. How do I avoid that?' "
