Two of the officers videotaped by the Associated Press beating a man in the French Quarter shortly after Hurricane Katrina were fired Tuesday. A third officer was suspended. Officers Robert Evangelist and Lance Shilling were fired for their role in the beating of 64-year-old Robert Davis. Officer Stuart Smith was suspended for 120 days. Davis is black; the three officers are white. Evangelist and Schilling were accused of battery on Davis. Smith was accused of battery of a reporter. All three officers had been suspended without pay since the Oct. 8 incident. They have pleaded not guilty to the charges and face trial Jan. 11.

New Orleans Pigs May Go To Market
Do you remember the video of those three white cops beating up the elderly black man in New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina? Two of them were fired and one was suspended for 120 days on Wednesday. All three officers had been suspended without pay since the incident. They have pleaded not guilty to the charges and face trial Jan. 11.
I think a year in jail, mixed in with the general population with other prisoners would be just about the right amount of justice for these punks. We'd get a chance to see just how tough they really are. Unfortunately, we know that won't happen.
