Surface-to-Air Missiles

....and a thanks to the Gipper!...
Surface-to-Air Missile Downed U.S. Chopper in Iraq Attack Has Ominous Implications, Marking First Time Insurgents Shoot Down U.S. Aircraft With Missile "Pentagon officials tell ABC News they believe Iraqi insurgents used a Russian-made SA-7 surface-to-air missile to shoot down a U.S. military helicopter on Monday. The AH-64 Apache crashed north of Baghdad, killing the two crew members. It was the third American chopper to go down in 10 days. It's a troubling new development because there are hundreds -- and by some estimates thousands -- of SA-7 missiles that are unaccounted for in Iraq".
'Thousands unaccounted for'? I know what you thought when you read that-- no, those were not considered 'wmds' by the U.S. or the United Nations before the invasion. These are hand-held surface to air missiles just like the ones Oliver North, through Ronald Reagan of course, sold to the Iranian terrorists during Iran/Contra. Who knows where these Iraqis are getting these types of weapons but Iran is supplying the insurgency. Some of that smell from the Reagan administration stills has a lingering affect. Ronald Reagan authorized the sale of thousands of TOW missiles to Iranian terrorists and there is a possibility that one of those could be used to shoot down our aircraft that are patrolling Iraq. Thanks Gipper...
