Airstrike May Have Hit Al Qaeda No. 2!

"An airstrike on a Pakistani village near the Afghan border may have targeted Osama bin Laden's top lieutenant, Ayman al-Zawahiri, CBS News reports. The airstrike in a remote Pakistani tribal area killed at least 17 people on Friday, and a senior Pakistani official said the target was a suspected al Qaeda hideout that may have been frequented by high-level operatives. Citing unnamed American intelligence officials, U.S. networks reported that it was a CIA strike and that al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's No. 2 leader, could have been at the compound in the Bajur area or about to arrive. It is not clear if al-Zawahiri or other al Qaeda operatives were there, reports CBS News. A senior Pakistani government official told The Associated Press that "there is 50-50 chance that some al Qaeda personality was at the home" that was hit. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said Saturday that he had heard that the al Qaeda figure may have been al-Zawahiri and that the information would be clearer later Saturday".
Interesting....al-Zawahiri hiding out in Pakistan, and not Afghanistan? Or, at least we hope it's him. That would be very sweet, indeed. This is huge.
