Kennedy Makes Specter Look Like a Fool and a Liar

Kennedy Calls Specter’s Bluff
This morning, Sens. Arlen Specter and Ted Kennedy sparred over Kennedy’s request to subpoena documents related to the Concerned Alumni of Princeton. Specter insisted, on multiple occassions, that he had never received a letter from Kennedy, and used that point to disregard the request. "If it’s really a matter of importance — you and I see each other all the time — you’ve never mentioned it to me, and I do not ascribe a great deal of weight [to it]," Specter said. Except Kennedy had sent a letter, and Specter’s office not only received it, but issued a response to Kennedy’s office. Specter later admitted he discussed Kennedy’s letter in a phone call with his Chief-of-Staff.
Think Progress Arlen Specter doesn't make a very good liar but sure does make a wonderful fool. Specter tried to deny that Kennedy had contacted him and his staff about wanting to subpoena documents that would show Scalito was lying about his involvement with the racist organization, CAP, that Scalito was once so proud to be a member of. Specter lied about not receiving Kennedy's letter but there was one small problem for Arlen; Kennedy had a letter that was a response to his letter from Specter's staff. There's nothing like being made to look like a fool and being exposed as a liar on national TV.... Classic...
