"J-Mac"
I saw this on Lou Dobbs' show last night and it is one of the most uplifting stories I've ever seen in my life! A young kid, Jason McElwain, who is austistic and who has played on his high school basketball team for three years and never played a minute was put into his teams' final game and scored 20 points in the last 4 minutes.
Go here and watch the video. Watch the reaction of his teammates on the bench, too. It's simply amazing!
"A student known by his friends as "J-Mac" brought down the house last week at his New York high school. Jason McElwain, who is diagnosed as highly-functioning autistic, has a large fan base. He got his chance to suit up and play in his school's basketball game. CNN reported that as a student assistant, J-Mac helps out the team. But that changed on Wednesday night, when Athena High School basketball coach Jim Johnson decided to give Jason his shot to suit up and play".
