Call for Immediate Withdrawal From Iraq

It's time for the Iraqis to fight for their own freedom. Iraqis will never have the will to fight as long as we are dumb enough to die for them. Our military has been criminally misused by the Bush administration by being relegated to guarding Iraq's oil wells, banks, utilities and polling places. Our soldiers and Marines are trained to destroy the enemy, just as they did in Afghanistan and the first weeks of the invasion of Iraq. They're not to be used as pawns or security guards by the neocons in their desire to build a 'bridgehead' in the middle east so their corporatists campaign contributors can be assured of a source for continued revenue. Pull out immediately. As for those who say we're 'cutting and running'? Our adversaries only need to look at how quickly we kicked Afghanistan's ass and how quickly we marched to Baghdad and remember if they fuck up again, we'll be back and do it the right way, and with much better leadership the next time. If I kick your ass in a street fight and leave you bloodied along the curb, it's not 'cutting and running' when I walk away. And believe me, you won't be coming back for more, because you'll remember the 'shock and awe' of the first ass-whipping. It's time to stop building schools, guarding oil wells, checking purple fingers and passing out candy bars. We need to transfer 50,000 of our freshest troops to Afghanistan (and Pakistan too, if they don't wake up) and finish the job we should have finished in the first place. Osama bin Laden would be dead in 60 days. Then, we need to hold accountable those who took us needlessly into Iraq. Fair and impartial trials... followed by lengthy prison sentences. Killing bin Laden and imprisoning those responsible for the diversion into Iraq - now, that will be justice.
"House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday embraced a call by a prominent member of her rank-and-file to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, two weeks after she declined to endorse it. "We should follow the lead of Congressman John Murtha, who has put forth a plan to make American safer, to make our military stronger and to make Iraq more stable," Pelosi said. "That is what the American people and our troops deserve."
