Five Grand on the coin toss
Actress Janet Jones said Thursday that she never placed a wager on behalf of her husband, Phoenix Coyotes coach Wayne Gretzky.
Addressing a betting scandal that led to the arrest of Coyotes associate Rick Tocchet, she released a statement, saying, "Other than the occasional horse race, my husband does not bet on any sports."
Reached by phone by USA TODAY, Jones said the statement would be her only comment: "I would like to say a thousand things, but I can't."
