Democrats Call Republicans' Bluff on Spending

Republicans fail the test on spending limits If you are smart and well informed, or you read this blog, which will help you with the latter, you know that it is Republicans who are the party that has increased spending at out of control levels and that the only fiscal conservative to sit in the Oval Office over the last 25 years was Bill Clinton. Republicans, and those who support them will look you dead in the eye and tell you that they are for 'smaller government' and for less government spending but as you know from reading the information provided here, the facts are quite the opposite. Once again Republicans were given the chance on Tuesday to do something about their outlandish spending habits and the Democrats proved them to be what they really are; Hypocritical spending hogs who can't pull themselves away from the trough. Five Republicans (I guess there are a few) joined 44 Democrats and the lone Independent in trying to reign in spending but unfortunately the other 50 Republicans decided to follow the pattern set previously by Reagan and the two Bush's and continue on their path of bankrupting the country. If you want to get federal spending under control you had better vote for the Democrat this November.
Senate G.O.P. Blocks Tight Budget Rule "Senate Republicans on Tuesday narrowly defeated an effort to impose budget rules that would make it harder to increase spending or cut taxes, a move that critics said that showed Republicans were posturing in their calls for greater fiscal restraint. In the first of several politically charged budget and spending issues confronting Congress this week, the Senate rejected on a 50-to-50 tie a proposal to restore what are known as "pay-go" rules, a requirement that tax cuts and some new spending be approved by 60 votes or offset by budget savings or revenue increases. Democrats and a handful of Republican allies said that the added discipline was essential to getting a handle on the mounting federal debt and that the rules had been instrumental in reducing red ink before they were allowed to lapse in 2002. "For those who say they are fiscally responsible, here is your chance," said Senator Kent Conrad of North Dakota, senior Democrat on the Budget Committee. "You are going to be able to prove with one vote whether you are serious about doing something about these runaway debts and runaway deficits or whether it is all talk."
Do you see the 4 beautiful dark blue bars that are 'above' the line? Those are Bill Clinton's. Do you see the four dark blue bars from Clinton's first four years and notice how they go up each year? Do you see where anyone else since 1980 has any lines that aren't WAY BELOW that demarcation? No, you don't. All those lines that show those huge deficits belong to the "phony' fiscal conservatives that call themselves "Republicans". Republicans are not fiscal conservative. They are social conservatives in that they like to pry their noses into your personal business but they cannot govern this country when it comes to fiscal responsibility and they can't argue otherwise with those of us who know better. When you know your facts you can always make a Republican look like the fools they are. Do you want fiscal responsibility in this country? Then vote Democrat.
