Truman would have hung the bastards!

War profiteering is one of the most egregious crimes there is, but when a Republican administration like Bush's is in charge, it's business as usual. War profiteering directly kills our young troops in Iraq but of course, that's not something this administration gets too hung up on. Our troops are looked at as nothing but cannon fodder for what they see as billions in oil revenue to their supporters and to them once they leave office. As you learned here last month, Custer-Battles is a well-connected Republican led company-(of course, you knew that) and I'm sure they never thought they would be prosecuted but obviously Democrats took the lead on their demise. When the Republicans' favor with the American public starts to wane, you're always going to get justice like this to follow. If these guys would have done this during either the Roosevelt or Truman administrations they'd be swinging from a tree right about now. But, with Bush and the Republicans, all they'll have to do is pay a fine that's a fraction of what they stole and make a sizeable contribution to the Republican Party. What patriots were led by, huh?
Jury fines defense contractor in Iraq $10M "A federal jury on Thursday ordered a U.S. defense contractor accused of war profiteering in Iraq to pay more than $10 million in damages and fines. In the first civil fraud case brought against a military contractor during the Iraq war, the jury in Alexandria, Va., found that Custer Battles LLC committed fraud in 37 instances in connection with a $9 million contract to help distribute new currency in Iraq".
